  Les Baux

Approximately one & a half hours from Alès is Les Baux, a fantastic hill top village and walled
fortress. You can spend a day climbing up through the village and wandering around the very
large fortified area, where they have various types of medival weaponary (some of which is
demonstrated). If you don't wish to feast in the many eating houses in the village, there are places
in the fortress for you to picnic. Choose a warm sunny day, not a cold windy one for your visit,
as the top is very exposed.
The Cathedrale D'Image is near by and well worth a visit, being a large quarried cave where
various famous paintings are projected. http://www.lesbauxdeprovence.com/
