Anduze

The Historical Town of Anduze is known as the Porte de Cévennes, (The Door of the Cévennes) which is the gateway to the magnificent Cévennes region. It is located on the edge of the Languedoc plains and at the foot of the Massif Central Southern foothills. Anduze and the region are very welcoming. The region is not only a summer resort but it is also an area where history and traditions are alive. You will discover its varied aspects, its century old villages and its many different landscapes. Facing the Mediterranean side, the Cévennes is a place full of "Joie de Vivre". Whether for long or short stays, it has a lot to offer to those who discover its treasures. In summer the many sites and our Gardon river are privileged places to visit and there are many beautiful trails to discover during the milder days of spring or to enjoy the sumptuous Autumn season. You will discover the magnificent landscapes where you can go fishing, glean mushrooms and chestnuts, try the well-known Saucisse d'Anduze and tasty Pélardons (goats cheese) all of it accompanied with good quality local wine.

The town of Anduze is bathed in the crystal clear waters of the Gardon river, stretched out between two worlds: The Cévennes mountains and the Languedoc low land.
Anduze is at the start of the Cévennes, and is a proud witness of its very strong Protestant history. The history of the turbulent progress in French church reformation can be discovered at the Musee du Désert in the nearby village of Le Mas Soubeyran. With its Mediterranean climate, its cool alleys and century old trees which soothe the harshness of the midday light. Anduze a colourful town, with its fountains, nooks and crannies where the daily life goes side by side with history. For further information, see the Anduze Official Website http://www.ot-anduze.fr
